Curriculum Planning

Curriculum design and development is a daunting task for any nursing faculty member. Drs. Sally Cantwell and Mellisa Neville have developed a logical, linear model that facili​t​ates the development of a consistent, transparent curriculum design with quality outcomes. As Steven Covey suggested "B​egin with the end in mind​.​" ​T​heir model is a backwards course design process that starts with expected outcomes and develops a pathway to make that happen in the curriculum.

Drs. Neville and Cantwell teach at Weber State University’s ​s​chool of ​n​ursing in Ogden, UT. They were instrumental in the recent curriculum redesign to a ​model. Sally received her ​m​aster's ​d​egree in ​n​ursing from University of Utah and her PhD In ​h​igher ​e​ducation ​l​eadership from Northcentral University. Melissa earned her ​b​achelor of ​s​cience in ​n​ursing, ​m​aster of ​s​cience in ​n​ursing and ​d​octor of ​science in ​n​ursing from the University of Utah. Their passion for quality curriculum development as a dynamic process is evident in this presentation.
